For Perth Amboy Teachers
The Perth Amboy Free Public Library provides a variety of services to support the curriculum needs of local teachers, homeschoolers, and their students in grades PreK-12.
School Visits / Library Tours
To request a school or community visit to the library, or request visit to your school from a staff member, kindly call or email the Library. A detailed Request form will be emailed or mailed to you so that we can gather the necessary information to try to accommodate the request. Please note, at least two weeks notice is needed for the date(s) requested, and we can not accommodate more than 30 students per visit at the library. For larger groups, a staff member may be able to come to you depending on availability and the nature of the request. We will make every effort to accommodate the request contingent upon our staff availability and the Children’s Programming Schedules.
Assignment Alerts and Resource Lists
If a large number of students will be researching the same, or similar, topic the library can create a special collection of “in library use only” materials that will be set aside for your students use and cannot be checked out of the library. Library staff are happy to provide research guides, booklists, and bibliographies to assist student research or for other classroom needs. Please email email@example.com to send your Assignment Alert. Assignment Alerts require a minimum of one week’s notice.
Staff are available during library hours to assist students with finding material for research projects, and answering general questions. The Library does not provide individualized tutoring; however, we do our best to answer student’s questions about their homework.
The Perth Amboy Free Public Library purchases books that can be used by students in grades K-12 to complete research papers and other assignments. If you find a title that you feel would be appropriate for use by your students, please notify a library staff member or complete a Request for Purchase form and we will consider adding it to our collection.
The Library provides access to a variety of electronic resources. A valid Perth Amboy Free Public card is needed to access the databases from locations outside of the library.
